Brown Contractors was appointed by Golding Contractors to perform the major re-construction of flood-affected roads within the Paroo Shire Region. Works included heavy formation grading, gravel re-sheeting, bulk haulage, and drainage repairs.
The scope consisted of 2500 work sites spread across a 200 km radius. Effective planning was crucial to the success of the project due to travel and communication issues. The frequently changing work scope required an adaptive approach to construction methodologies.
- Developed an effective scope change tracking procedure that allowed for flexible planning and efficient procurement of required materials ahead of each work crew
- Provided first aid training to local workforce to ensure a first aid person was always on site
- Increased future expectations by leaving a legacy of high quality pavement installation techniques using local gravel sources: Community and council representatives continue to praise Brown Contractors performance on the project
- Provided methodology training to local operators increasing councils capabilities for future projects
